Scouts Set Out On Mission To 'Clean Up The World'

Armed with garbage bags and a strong desire to make a change, over 40 Tutong Scout Association members and leaders yesterday headed to Seri Kenangan Beach to spruce up the area.
The World Scout Bureau-organised 'Cleaning up the World 2010 campaign' saw scouts members joining hands in a bid to save our planet and subsequently bring about a cleaner, healthier environment.
Tutong District Scout Council member cum guest of honour Skipper Hj Moksin bin Kadir led the team in the cleaning campaign, which involved the participation of scout members both young and old.
Meanwhile, in the Temburong District, the Temburong District Scout Association earned heaps of praise and recognition after 50 scout members together with their families rolled up their sleeves to tidy up the Youth Center in the district as part of the same campaign.
The move follows the environmental clean up programme involving Operations Team 'G' of the Fire and Rescue, Royal Brunei Police Force, Department of Information, and the Youth and Sports Department in Temburong.
Present as guest of honour was Norfaizah binti Haji Subuh, the Head of Division of Youth and Sports Temburong District, who later presented souvenirs to all participants for their efforts.
Supported by Jurusy Perunding, Consulting Engineers and Waste Management, the Temburong clean up campaign drew an encouraging response yesterday.
Among the present was Skipper Haji Mohd Taib bin Haji Osman, leaders of the Scout Headquarters Brunei Darussalam, assistant commissioner and scout association members from the district. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
