Dato Paduka Haji Idris bin Haji Abas, President of the Brunei Darussalam Scout Association, left yesterday to represent Brunei in the 6th General Assembly of the World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) in Seoul, Korea from Nov 1 to 4, according to a press release.
The WSPU is a new international organisation which unites Scout-oriented parliamentarians from all over the world and brings them into closer contact with the World Scout Movement.
It aims to strengthen national and world scouting through the influence of parliamentarians who believe in scouting as an effective non-formal educational method and movement. Other WSPU objectives are:

To promote youth education and research in scouting for the development of good citizens this would consequently bring about the development of the country.
To promote joint activities between the government sector and the private sector in the spirit of scouting as a creative force for overall development.

The theme for this year's General Assembly, 'Let's Keep The Promise', will focus on scouting and corporate social responsibility and scouting as a worldwide peacekeeping movement. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
